ON@TCC
Here is my view about Chetan Bhagat's popular novel One Night @ The Call Center..1).. Contemporary issues in ON@TCC.
a) Yes, I am agree that Chetan Bhagat has a talent for tapping into the zeitgeist; that he is not much older than the people he writes about makes him a particularly credible portrayer of their world.. Here first i would like to discuss something about The Zeitgeist.. It is one type of spirit of the age or we can say spirit of the time. Chetan bhagat is not too much older so that it is bit easy for him to describe all those character and situation. In this novel all characters are very life like character that we can easily imagine our self there. He also describe contemporary problem in this novel with deeply observation.
b) The call centre has become the symbol of India’s newly globalised economy. Bhagat's tone is pitch-perfect, his observer’s eye keenly focused on nuance and detail. We can say that he not used big words or high languages but his ideas his point of view of looking into society is very big. As i also read Shashi Tharoor's article where he talks about this novel and Bhagat's writing and observation.
c) Bhagat has a huge vision and he also portrait young generation, their struggle and all that all those things are very easy to digest yes we can say that those things are not too much philosophical but it also gives something new. Here we can also see the generation gap.
d) Yes, Bhagat has an insight for the contemporary issues that are movers and shakers in India. Most probably his most of all works are focus on contemporary issues and life of people.
2).. Mannepean satire: First Mannepean satire in which contemporary institutions, conventions, and ideas were criticized in a mocking satiric style that mingled prose and verse. ( Encyclopedia ) Here we see the structure , setting and length similar to the novel. In this novel as here discussed also about people's mindset that some of or most of problems in our life is only can solved by God, supernatural power always helps us and all. In this novel Priyanka and Radhika also Military Uncle those are characters are helps us to understand family issues, problems that describes in this novel by Bhagat. Thus in this novel it shows satire on culture, family issues, contemporary society and all..
3)The effect of Globalization: First Globalization is ) is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture.. Friedman’s notion of the Flat World is a reality. Globalization has had a huge impact on people's thinking their mindset. In this novel also describe the struggle of each of character's life. In this novel Globalization and the effect of it shows in many ways.
4).. Narrative Structure :
a) Narrative Structure is most important part of the novel. Chetan Bhagat makes interesting use of prologue and epilogue in this novel. I would like to say that the fact is that their prologues may be the best parts of their books but hey, If I like the beginning I will read it to the end and The prologue is probably my favorite part of the whole book and epilogue was really shocking . But. we can say not only for using but prologue and epilogue used very interesting way in his novel by him.
b) “The narrative follows the dream of the author in train from Kanpur to Delhi, wherein God, in form of mysteriously beautiful young lady, narrates the story of ‘One Night @ the Call Centre’.. Imagination and creativity of narration is well used by Bhagat. Failure also describe in proper way where we can also see the self confidence of most of characters.
5).. Popular Literature and ON@TCC: Popular culture is bit different in this novel their is some of situation and like supernatural things that mostly not happened in reality or real life. I read somewhere that Popular literature today is produced either to be read by a literate audience or to be enacted on television or in the cinema.
6)..Self-help book and on@tcc: First i would like to say that Chetan's God becomes a mouthpiece for his self help - 'listen to the inner call'. It is about inner call or inner voice. A self-help book is one that is written with the intention to instruct its readers on solving personal problems.
( Wikipedia ). Self- help is a kind of
non-fictional genre.
7).. Anti-American sentiments..ON@TCC also represented the idea and the Anti- American views. Anti-American sentiment, is opposition or hostility to the policies, culture, society, economics, foreign policy, international role
7).. Anti-American sentiments..ON@TCC also represented the idea and the Anti- American views. Anti-American sentiment, is opposition or hostility to the policies, culture, society, economics, foreign policy, international role
( Wikipedia ). In
on@tcc.. one of theme is Nationalism and also few characters are
